A beautiful tomato

Although, at face value, this appears to be quite an ugly tomato, one that you would definitely not pick up at the green grocer, I think it's beautiful. You see, it is the first one off my grosse lisse plant, and although you can't tell from the photo, it is about as big as my hand. We have had other tomatoes grow on this bush, but those close to the ground have been destroyed by the chickens.
Our chickens have their own run, where they can while away the day with food, water, grubs, dirt and straw. However, they prefer the challenge of struggling with their clipped wings to fly over the gate, and wander around the backyard. They don't do too much damage, and they have kept our apples free from coddling, but planting seeds is no longer an option for me - they just dig them straight back out and eat them.
I suspect we need higher fences and a bigger gate.
