Brassicas
March 12th 2009 20:28
It's that time of year again when the brassicas go into the veggie patch. I'm talking broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and this year, chinese cabbage as well.
I love preparing the veggie patch for the new season of vegetables. It's usually at the time where I have eaten enough tomaotes, or eggplant or capsicums, and the range of new flavours always excites me.
I've also planted some broadbeans and peas in another area of the garden. I'm not a big fan of broadbeans, but they grow very easily and they are very good for the soil. I'm hoping for a bumper pea crop though. I never really liked peas, but I've been using them in curries and stews lately and I quite like the sweet little pop you get when you bite into them..... don't tell anyone though, I've disliked peas for so long I think it would shake the universe foundations.
