Cheesy cheesy

Adelaide is known as the city of festivals, and for good reason. Coming into the warmer weather, barely a week will go by without some festival or other taking place.
This week it was time for Cheesefest and what better way to spend a sunny Sunday than eating cheese, drinking wine and chatting with the girls in the beautiful surrounds of the city parklands.
The name gives away a lot of what the festival is about – basically it is a series of around 30 stalls, most of which are selling goods from local cheese manufacturers. Also on offer are antipasto platters and wine by the glass or bottle from local wineries.
This is the first year the event was held in Adelaide city, having previously been held at McLaren Vale, and it did show. I suspect that they had many more people through the gate than in previous years, and once inside we weren’t really interested in pushing our way through the crowds for free cheese samples.
A little disappointed by the excessive crowds and unsure how to even go about seeing everything, we split up to find supplies and planned to regroup with cheese, antipasto and wine. We also scored ourselves a cone of fries.
A nice piece of dappled shade, our makeshift picnic and a delicious glass of rose soon saw us enjoying the atmosphere for the day. Although I can’t help but think we would have done much better if we bought ourselves some cheese, a nice stick of French bread and some olives. It just shows that the best thing about eating cheese and drinking wine is the company you keep while doing it!!
