Kitchen Garden

This is my garden – or more accurately, my veggie patch. I’m pretty happy with how these two plots are coming along, less than a year ago they were bare ground (or actually covered in weeds….) and now they produce.
As you can see, here I have broccoli, two different types of spinach, beetroot and broccolini which is forever threatening to go to seed. In the second patch, I have only recently planted handfuls of peas and broadbeans, which are just starting to make their way through to the surface. I love watching for that first sign of growth – it’s very satisfying!
Also in the ground at the moment, I have snowpeas, leeks, onions, garlic, artichoke, spring onions, carrots and cauliflower – at least I think there is still some remnants of the cauliflower left – they have been rather destroyed by the snails this year.
The lemon tree is another achievement this season, with the branches laden with fruit. Planted alongside of this is the lime tree, which has some flowers, but no fruit as yet, then we have an orange, mandarin and blood orange. Each of these plants have been in the ground for less than a year and won’t fruit for a while yet – but hopefully they’ll come along soon. Can’t wait for spring!
