New Farmer's Market
December 12th 2009 07:49
This morning I attended the first ever Adelaide Hills Farmer's Market.
Even before we had arrived I was super excited about this. A farmer's market, just 10 minutes down the road, and opening every weekend - I had already pictured myself heading up there each week, walking around sipping a hot chocolate, with a freshly baked loaf of bread in hand and enjoying the smells of sun ripened fruit and vegetables.
And, I have to say, it didn't disappoint. There were plenty of stalls with a decent range of produce and local goods and walking around enjoying the event with me, there were plenty of people to make this a very viable and successful market.
We bought big bunches of herbs for only $2 each, the shiniest eggplants you have ever seen and half a wheel of a very ripe brie which is just devine. The red and yellow cherry tomatoes were also a steal and served in toast with basil and a little cheese, they made a delicious lunch.
Yearly membership to the market is $45 and provides card holders with 10 per cent off purchases, as well as other member specials.
The market will be on again next Saturday (December 19), and will return in the New Year after a short break - looking forward to it!
