The Brunching Hour

Is there a better meal than brunch?
Located somewhere in the mid-morning time range, brunch allows a whole host of different foods to be lined up and offered to hungry socialites. Foods which would normally be confined to breakfast, or lunch, or sometimes even dessert can be served together without fear of retribution.
My sister’s ‘friends birthday celebration’ was this year a brunch. So we all headed down to her place with our appointed dishes ready to consume. I was in charge of eggs – and some ciabatta.
Savoury and sweet brunch goods were produced with bacon, sausages, mushrooms and tomato cooked on the barbecue, scrambled eggs made in the kitchen and next to the cook top the waffle maker was working overtime. We also had a platter or fresh fruit and two delicious sorbets to go with our waffles, in flavours of banana and mocha.
The other wonderful thing about brunch is that it can go on forever. With no need to move onto another meal until well into the evening, diners can pick away at the food to their hearts content. And who doesn’t enjoy gentle grazing on a Sunday afternoon?
